Harriet Hacker was playing Galactic Grand Prix and she was going great guns - on Warp Level 5 already! She was driving a Z-wing fighter and was close on the tail of a yeehat terminator.  One more blast on the after-burners and she'd pass it. The rest of the field was way behind.

"Harriet!   Dinner's ready!" yelled Mrs Hacker.

Bonkers - half blood-hound, half dustbin - shot to the door, ears flying. Fat the Cat opened one eye, but Harriet, far too busy banking the Z-wing into a turn, hit the button to light the afterburners - and there was the chequered flag!  The yeehat tried to speed up, but Harriet blasted the burners - and passed it!

The finishing line was only seconds away - for150,000 points and a bonus life!

But something was wrong …

“MUM NOT NOW, I DON’T WANT DINNER I CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT FOOD”, bellowed Harriet. Suddenly she heard big, heavy, noisy footsteps. She quickly locked the door; all you could hear was a BANG. Mrs Hacker stopped in front of the closed door. She search for the bunch of keys in her pocket, one by one as she was looking for the correct key, on the other side of the door Harriet was making her escape through the window. Mrs Hacker flung the door open but Harriet was gone. Harriet ran and ran as fast as she could go.

She ran to the park which; just around the corner.  Seeing an old man, she halted. His head was bent down, his face was covered with his old white beard. In his hand he held a tin can that was empty. Harriet couldn’t help herself; digging her hand into her pocket she pulled out a dollar. “Here you go sir”, she whispered. He looked up; his eyes were saying thank you. “No worries” she mumbled “What’s your name?” The old man grabbed a crumpled old paper out of his pocket and gave it to Harriet. She flipped it over, it was an old ID card but it was damaged where the name should be. “ Right then, I’ll call you.. uhhhhh what about Mr Terminator, does that sound alright with you?”. The man smiled and nodded. “ Do you like to play Galactic Grand Prix” she laughed out. He stared at her weirdly. “He doesn’t” a voice called from behind Harriet. She turned her head seeing a boy about her age. Gunshots rang out: BOM, BANG, HELPPPP!!!!!! Then, out of nowhere……..

Harriet forced the words out of her throat “What? My mum? “Sweet are you okay? It must be the bump on your head , let me go get you a pack of ice.” she said with a wicked voice that travelled to Harriet's ears sweetly and softly. Harriet had time to think over what happened, she sat up and looked around her room,. “It looks like my room, I think, but I don't feel like I'm at home.” Harriet looked out the window, it didn't look like their backyard either. She got up slowly, her whole body ached, she couldn't feel her legs. Her first attempt to stand up failed, and she fell flat on the floor. She stood up again. Harriet started to hear footsteps so she hurried to the window and looked outside, it was the park that she saw the old man in, their house was in the middle of the park! Suddenly the door opened and standing their was the woman who claimed to be her mother. “Oh no darling! You shouldn't be standing up!” She took her by her arm slowly, and Harriet weakly wiggled away. “Don't touch me! Your not my mother! This isn't my room, this whole place isn't our house! Who are you? What do you want from me? “ The woman with white hair stared at her blankly. Harriet looked outside and saw the old man again. He was holding the dollar, looking down and standing there. He didn't move a muscle.

I take a blink of an eye and he is on my back

he is trying to blind me

I take the dollar from his pocket and throw it to the park

then he jumps off me and chases for it

it move about like it is on a floppy string

he chases it and chase it as I giggle. Then

he crashes into a big brown oak tree and fall over like a plank of wood.

I blink my eyes and i'm somewhere else

but not there and i'm not home

Where was she? At first glance the room looked dark, completely covered in black. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she started to notice gloomy figures, advancing towards her. The cold air bit into her as she started to feel her way across the room. DRIP. DRIP. DRIP. Mysterious slime fell on her head, drenching her in a sticky, gooey liquid. She let out a shrill scream. Harriet tried wiping the gunk of, but to no avail. It wouldn’t come of! Harriet struggled to find her way out, trying desperately to look for an exit.
Suddenly, a bright red light illuminated her terrified face, hypnotising her into a trance. Her brain was screaming at her to run, but her body wouldn’t respond. As suddenly as it turned on, the red light shut down, returning the room to darkness. THUD. THUD. THUD! Footsteps were approaching the room. She heard the sound a key turning in a lock. The noise echoed around the room. With a load groan, the door opened. She squinted at the gigantic figure in front of her. It was ….

It was a strange man. That strange man was her father. "Dad!!! What are you doing in this dark room? What is this slime?" said Harriet. "First of all hoey, you are in your room. Second of all, why are you putting mud all over your room?" said Dad. Harriet looked bemused. She didn't know what was happening. She looked around her room only to find our the mud was slime. She freaked out!! "Where is my game system? I was on level 5!" said Harriet. She was terrified of what she saw. It was her baby brother who took her game system. "Why did you do that? I hate you!! I wish you, Mom, and Dad were never born!" said Harriet. She slammed the door. After a while, she felt bad for what she said. She opened the door to apologize. Then, all of a sudden, her video game appeared. She picked it up, and the game sucked her into another dimension. "AHHHHH!!" she yelled. Now, to this very day, she wishes she would have never started playing the video system.
