Encouraging links between students and school staff around the globe
Note from Tony - “Notice the pattern of the opening lines and try to follow it.
There are three rhyming lines of equal length to each verse and then a fourth line which is the same every time -
"This is my message to you"
The final verse could then be the message or there could be a message in each verse. What would your message be? A thank you perhaps? If you decide this at the beginning then you should have plenty of ideas. Make a list before you start to try and make them rhyme. I hope that you have fun writing a poem or two of your own in this style. Good luck!”
To the playground full of slides and rides and swings
The blackbird and the pretty song she sings
The treat box filled with icky sticky things
This is my message to you
To the seaside where we paddle in the sun
...
To the busy streets where the festivals’ begun
You’re my sweet, loving number one
This is my message to you
To the park where the children play all day
To the melody the musicians play
Forever and ever and always
This is my message to you
To the orchard, as cows are raised
Sitting, shaded, relaxed, and lazed
The sky silver with the summer haze
This is my message to you
To the sun’s beautiful, blinding gleam
It isn’t as it always seems
The majestic, brave, and battle scarred king
This is my message to you
The secret place we only know
The way you love to make a show
If you are there, I’d love to go
This is my message to you
And when we get there, you will see
What you really mean to me
Because that is my message: we
Will love each other endlessly.

To the park we go in the daylight
To the trees we go to in the midnight
The sun rising up in the twilight
This is my message to you
To the path we walk everyday to school
The girls in school that are so cool
The cool water that fills up my pool
This is my message to you
To the ice cream we eat in the summer
To every bite I eat my heart gets warmer
To my friends that make my life sweeter
This is my message to you
Claire and Kenia, International Community School
To the snowflakes floating down
To the happiness of the town
Until all the snow are at meltdown
This is my message to you
To the jokes that we laughed at
To our very, very long chats
Oh, how I love that
This is my message to you
We were the best pair ever
We’ve never had an argument, never
We belong together forever
This is my message to you
To the memories that we had
I know they made you glad
Please be with me, you never make me sad
This is my message to you
The part you’ve been waiting for
I love you evermore
Like no one before
This is my message to you x

To the seaside where we paddle in the sun,
The bucket and spade lead us all to fun
The teenagers are older so they run
This is my message to you.
To the autumn holidays we always had,
The family together we’re just mad
The warm fire makes us cosy and glad
This is my message to you.
To the crazy board games we all used to play,
The tragic day Grandad went away
The time I wished he would stay one more day
This is my message to you.
To the winter nights where we all huddled near,
The Christmas letters we write, start with dear
The snow that falls says: Santa’s here this year
This is my message to you.
To the daffodils that come out this time,
The Easter Bunny would not commit crime
The time when you and I did a great mime!
This is my message to you.
You are no longer with me now but,
I love you mum and dad
That was my message to you.

The night was not very bright
It was Spooky that night
Everyone got a fright
This is my message to you.
The full moon was out.
You could hear the wolves shout.
Every child was out and about
This is my message to you.
We've got lots of candy
Our broomsticks were very handy.
The woman at the door was called Mandy.
This is my message to you.
Our costumes were great
Me and my mate
Sat and ate
This is my message to you.
