FROM BENEATH

Waves the size of houses tossed the trawler back and forth like matchwood. The storm had taken the Captain by surprise. Never in his thirty years at the helm had he seen a front move in with such speed, black clouds moving with preternatural fury.

What had summoned them, the captain didn’t know. He knew the sea held secrets it was reluctant to surrender. Out here there were things not meant to be disturbed.

But that’s exactly what they had done.

The captain recalled the hours before the storm had appeared. The trawler net had snagged on something under the water - which was impossible because there was nothing there. Not even the sea floor. Yet the trawler had been yanked backwards, coming to a complete stop as the strained engines burned out.

Now they were dead in the water.

Dead in the water and something was rapidly rising beneath them.

“All hands on deck”

“Aye Aye captain” the crew replied trying to hide the fear in their voice, instead it came out like a little girl whining one of them even let out a small whimper.

“Captain, something’s wrong” the first mate said sounding just as manly as the crew (which is not manly at all quite frankly I think he needs a diaper)

No duh the captain thought as he nodded grimly at the first mate.

Splash!

            Boom!

                        Bam!

The waves swirled around the ship like a rollercoaster out of control. And the captain knew that something was up. The Captain, over all his years of sailing, had never seen a whirlpool as big as the one they were flying around right now.

The Capt’ns stomach fluttered like a fat and clumsy butterfly rocketing around looking for safety (lets just say the ship wasn’t the only thing about to blow).

Splash!

            Boom!

                        Bam!

The wind howled. The ship shook. A scream. And an enormous shadow erupted from the water covering the sunshine from entering the ships line of passage. What? Who? If you asked the captain he would say to you “I have no idea” but deep down inside he knew exactly what it was and trust me you don’t want to know.

Flashes of red streaked the sky, This looks more and more like hell, claws, teeth, fangs? I knew it!. I’m dead. I think. Maybe. Probably not, but hey it’s nice to have some ambition and I’m getting a little peace and quiet…

Bang!

            Crash!

                        BAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!!

Screams that sounded like a little girl erupted from the scorched bodies of his crew. Come on die with some dignity you sissies.

The Captain tried to stand up straight on his madly rocking ship and he stared straight up into the eyes of the terrifying monster above him. "Come on then, what are you waiting for.....let's get this over with, come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!" he roared up at it, bravado and a fatalistic knowledge of his own certain death taking him over. The colossal being raised a hand and the Captain flinched waiting for it to come crashing down on him but instead the hand was placed almost gently in front of him. "Step aboard Captain" a voice like no other ever heard warbled wetly, the sound reverberating through the Captain's very bones , "I've been waiting for you to return , you have a debt to repay........"

'1 million Pounds' he said laughing 'cough it up.'

'I don't have one million pounds' the captain yelled, 'go to hell!' the ghost took him to Davie Jones Locker and threw him into the the locker, and locked the locker. The ghostly figure clicked his fingers and the boat sunk and then a shark got all the crew and the shark was called back and the Captain sat back and watched it all on his Plasma TV.

Then the door crecked open and...

Then another ghost of one of the dead crew members floated in and sneaked around the captain haunting him and taunting him, he screamed and jumped around, the ghostly man whispered,

“Hello captain how are you doin-g, ooohhhhh I see you are watching the X Factor, can I join you?

Well I guess I must do my duty.

“Ye- hey I’m the boss around here!!” shouted the captain.

“Not anymore, I’m a ghost and the most powerful one at that!”

“Oh you complete fool, I am the boss, the most important one that is in charge, and I can tell you that ghost friends will need to make the army”!!!!!!!!!”

Screamed the ghost. “You mean Armada, don’t you,” corrected the captain.

“Yes, stop correcting the boss. OK, well now I must kill you”.

As I intend to capture all the human beings in the world and it is my intention to enslave the whole of the human race” screeched the ghost.

But, as he was screaming the captain.........

The captain looked around Davey Jones locker and picked up a piece of glass. He pressed it against his skin hard enough so the blood could flow out. Immediately, the shark was attracted to the enticing smell of his blood. The shark threw himself against the locker until it broke open. The captain silently yelled, hallelujah as he swam toward the top. His lungs tightened as his body begged for oxygen. He saw the light and as his body and soul perished from this world, little Tommy found himself soaked in water gasping for air. He saw his Mom with a bucket of water in her hand standing over his bed. Time for school, she said. What a relief, it was just a dream. Thank God!
