To Bath or to Shower …?
I like it in the bath, you can relax
Pondering life and love and hope and hell;
But in a shower it’s mundane thoughts that tax-
Your mind beneath the soap and shower gel.
I like it in the bath, its tranquilising heaven
Each bubble is a dancing fairy, so calm and mystical and in harmony
But in a shower it’s just another forced action
We never choose it, it chooses us; no joy in getting clean.
I like it in the bath, you drift to endless places
Meditating in paddy fields; paddling through the Mekong River; gazing at the Eiffel tower
But in a shower you’re dirty and grimy and covered in gunk
You’re stuck in reality, washing away the filth.
I like it in the bath, it’s better for melting away the day
Daydreaming is peaceful; a potion which allows your thoughts run free
But in a shower your hair is as heavy as a soaked rug,
that hugs your neck and shoulders, like a long black octopus masseuse
Besides, why sit when you can stand?
Samantha Lee & Ramona Nabavieh, Garden International School, K.L. Malaysia
I like it in the bath, it’s a blanket made of water,
So peaceful when you start drifting off to sleep.
But in the shower, it’s morning slaughter,
Snatching you away from sleep.
I like it in the bath; it’s a scented paradise,
Beautiful bubbles in a divine creek.
But in the shower it’s a rainstorm at sunrise,
Making you dread the rest of the week
I like it in the bath; it’s a gentle calming ocean,
Smoothly lapping against your body.
But in the shower, it’s a chaotic motion,
A rhythmic, miserable melody.
I like it in the bath; it’s a blissful nirvana,
A brilliant, heated happiness
But in the shower, it’s a boiling sauna,
Causing you to overstress.
Simon Canniffe, Bacon's College
I like it in a bath; it’s like a mini pool,
You can think of nothing but you
But in the shower, you can’t relax,
Causing you to think of facts
In the battle of the bath or shower
Bath is like a calming spring
While a shower is like a million bee stings
Shelby and Rana International Community School, London
I like it in the bath, It’s like an ocean blue,
A tub of my wildest dream.
But in the shower, there’s nothing to do.
The way it perishes you making you want to scream!
I like it in the bath, it’s like a big wave,
Splashing on you like the dawn of the day.
But in the shower, I feel like I’m a slave,
Obeying the water’s orders, shrouding mist away.
I like it in the bath, it’s like a galaxy,
Never ending and exploring so far.
But in the shower, There’s no room to be free,
As little space as the back seat of a car.
I like it in the bath, It’s water so light,
Tingling when you touch it softly.
But in the shower, it creates a fight,
The results turning out just awfully!
