Encouraging links between students and school staff around the globe
Amy was out of breath as she reached the stone circle. Her brother Jack was already there with his weird new friend.
“What are you doing? You know we're not allowed up here, Jack. It's dangerous.”
“Go home, Amy, this is nothing to do with you.”
Jack spat the words at her and she stared at him, hurt and annoyed. Jack was her twin and he never talked to her like that. It was all Leon's fault. Everything had gone wrong from the moment he came to stay with them.
“It's too late, she has to stay now,” Leon smiled, “You both do!” The look in his eyes made Amy want to throw up. He was evil. Why couldn't Jack see it?
At that moment a dark cloud covered the full moon and Amy felt the ground under her feet start to shake. In the sudden darkness Leon lit a firebrand and the flames leapt into the air, lighting up the new pillar of stone that was rising from the ground in the middle of the circle. Leon was laughing but Amy and Jack watched in horror as the spaces between the ancient stones of the circle were filled by huge new stones that were erupting out of the soft earth.
“Amy, look!” Jack turned her around just in time to see the circle of stones fuse together to become a high stone wall, encircling them. They were trapped.
The stone in the centre of the circle cracked open.
