Cast a star into the sky. Watch in wonder! Watch it fly
From this distance it may seem
Starlight’s merely a watery beam
Far in space, infinitely higher
Like a burning ball of fire
Spaces between stars, inky black
With the stars huddled, in a pack
We can see the stars from here
All bright and crystal clear
Stars are like flashing lights
They watch us sleeping through stormy nights
Stars sore through the skies
While mothers sing their children lullabies.
By Megan Shakiera Norton and Odette Sejko, Great Yarmouth High School, England
A flash of light through the night,
The meteorite ruled the height,
The stars twinkled in awe,
As the comet gave an immense roar,
The stars started sipping from the moon,
As the big ball of rock got hurled and made a tune,
It made a crater much much greater than earth’s puny places,
And made the stars grow smiles of delight on their faces.
Congratulations to Noah, Jaden and Luan from Holy Trinity School in Wimbledon for their fantastic piece of poetry writing.
Glittering diamonds in the sky,
Glowing, shining way up high,
Sun goes down, the moon comes out,
Now all the stars are about,
Soaring, flying far from here,
In the crystal night so clear,
The stars are out across the hill,
And for once everything is still,
Forming different shapes of light,
Scattered on a beautiful night,
I’m sitting, watching, admiring the view,
Soon they will be gone…. as will you.
By Avni, Edward, Emma, James – Bishops Stortford College
But soon they will return.
And cause the sky to burn.
Causing the sky to light up red.
Bringing the night to an abrupt end.
As the sky awakens to dawn.
The star light is extigungished as the night turns to morn.
The sun rose high up in the sky.
The moon and stars said goodbye.
