Encouraging links between students and school staff around the globe
Mikey was quite scared of skateboards but if he told the other boys at Pikeham Juniors they’d all laugh at him. So when everyone else went off to the park with their boards he made some excuse about helping his Dad fix the car. It sounded better than helping Mum. He never expected to be actually forced into having a skateboard.
Then just as the school holidays started his big brother Jonno came into the kitchen carrying his old scuffed board with the loose wheel and dropped it on the floor. It skidded sideways and banged into a cupboard.
“Here squid,” growled Jonno, his voice deeper now it’d broken. “About time you learnt some moves.” Then he went out slamming the front door behind him.
Now what, thought Mikey, staring at the board in horror.
“Now get on for the ride of your life,” came a voice and to Mikey’s amazement the board lit up in fluorescent red and yellow and slid across the floor to rest at his feet.
