2/9/15 Priory School story 14 Andy Briggs http://www.andybriggs.co.uk

Waves the size of houses tossed the trawler back and forth like matchwood. The storm had taken the Captain by surprise. Never in his thirty years at the helm had he seen a front move in with such speed, black clouds moving with preternatural fury.

What had summoned them, the captain didn’t know. He knew the sea held secrets it was reluctant to surrender. Out here there were things not meant to be disturbed.

But that’s exactly what they had done.

The captain recalled the hours before the storm had appeared. The trawler net had snagged on something under the water - which was impossible because there was nothing there. Not even the sea floor. Yet the trawler had been yanked backwards, coming to a complete stop as the strained engines burned out.

Now they were dead in the water.

Dead in the water and something was rapidly rising beneath them.

It was a shark, a shark that had not ever been seen! There it was floating around them for blood, but not just any blood, human blood. There was an enormous wave! It hit the boat so hard it fell over. There was wood and glass everywhere and sailors. Everyone was racing to get back.  When the got to the sand they realised that five were missing.

They went back into the sea to save their five friends life but the shark was floating around all the five humans. But the shark was swimming towards them at a very quick rate

As the shark was furiously rushing towards the human, he kept on swimming towards the shark, he noticed he had a knife in his pocket and stabbed it in the sharks  fin and went past the shark.

But when the shark got stabbed he went underwater and because he had blood dripping of his fin , Other sharks sensed the blood and started coming towards the blood track which was leading  towards the human. As the sharks came towards him. he swam incredibly quick towards his friends to try to help them, BUT loads of sharks were still below him and his friends. Then suddenly the human felt a little pop near his ankle he looked down to see and he could see red under him, he realised his left leg had been vaporised , he fault he was going to die… But then suddenly he heard a noise in the sky, he looked up thinking he was going to die but saw a helicopter with his family inside to come a save the day! The people on the helicopter came down to save us and a bomber; suddenly he shot a bomb at the helicopter causing a massive irruption, creating a destructive fire ball while clouding the surroundings. A couple of seconds after the people ran away trying to save themselves. They thought they were saved but all of a sudden they heard a gunshot. Meanwhile the man looked beside him and saw his brother there lying on the cold dank floor. it was horrific he was so scared he didn’t know what to do the bomber had drove of and brought a full gang .He didn’t know what to do .He was climbing the trees digging holes and running for his life then he fell over a massive branch and sprained his wrist . one of the bombers came down and helped him up the rest of them came it was two against thirty they stated to run and forgot they had guns the nice bomber got shot and fell to the floor dying he carried on running and came across a tiger he jumped on the tigers back and ran away towards them they were so scared they got in the plane and drove of never to be seen again to be continued ...dun, dun, dun…

Waking up in hospital, the lone survivor of the trawler struggled to comprehend what had happened. He tried frantically to piece together the pieces of information from his dream that had been real and discard the fragments of insanity that had embedded them into his soul. Had he really been on the trawler when it had struggled against something in the sea? Had the sharks, with their razor sharp teeth and shadowy eyes, really existed? He was sure that they did. In fact he knew. Yes, his mind had invented strange visions of helicopters and yes his subconscious had exaggerated feelings of fear into terrible hallucinations of tigers, but that didn’t lessen the degree of sheer horror he felt when he realised he had lost all knowledge of his own identity…
