2/9/15 Priory School story 15 Ali Sparkes http://www.alisparkes.com

Daisy Smith was afraid of the cracks in the pavement. She avoided stepping on them. Not because of some stupid game at school or an ant phobia or something. No. Daisy had bigger issues than that. She was the only girl in Stimpson who knew the truth about what lay beneath the paving slabs. And worse, she was only one who knew that it wasn't staying down there... not for much longer...

Suddenly, there was an earthquake what made daisy smith fall to the grand she stood back up and stood proud  The cracks started to get bigger and bigger, Daisy fell straight through and she got to see what was bothering her so much.

She got her phone and took ten pictures and she climbed like her life depended on it. When she found her mum she showed her the pictures her mum just laughed. She didn’t k now what she was talking about.

But she looked through the pictures. She saw some glowing green thing. She that it was silly herself the next time she went out she walked on the cracks like it was no problem. She walked to school and back looked down and just laughed.

She tried to not let it show but it was too difficult it played on her mind day and night.it was like a broken record. She ran down stairs in panic and tumbled down the stairs screaming and crying. When she woke up she was in hospital. Daisy said to her mother not to walk on open gaps in the pavement. Her mother said “don’t be daft.” Later on, Her mother needed to pick something up from her house. Later that day she hadn’t returned daisy was concerned and asking nurses to ring her mum but no one replied. Daisy got angry and grabbed her crutches and stored out the hospital nagging at the phone answer hoping that her mum could hear. She heard her mum whispering help, instantly daisy knew it was her mum. She rapidly spun round and saw her mum lying down on the floor in pain.

Daisy heard a thunder coming from beneath her feet, as she was walking  to school. Suddenly she stumbled over a crack, she was frightened because she knew what was going to happen  not just to her but to the whole world. Bang!!!!!! The cracks in the tiles grew bigger and thicker, it was almost like the world was going to fall apart!!!! Was this real? Daisy thought. What was she going to do,(sigh),  she needed to save the world before it is to late. She had to go through this all by her self . It was time to leave home and save the world. Was she going to do it , or is she going to fail…….

However, this was probably the worst thing that Daisy could do. Despite initially thinking that she could ignore what lurked beneath the pavement, what she didn't know what that the more she tried to ignore it, the more powerful and incredible the creature became. It was just waiting for the right moment...

And the right moment for the creature to appear was one evening in late September. Daisy was walking home from school. It was dark and a light shower of rain had started to chase her as she approached her home. That was when a voice started to call her name. A deep voice that whispered beneath the pavement. Daisy knew that she would wait forever to see it again. She would make her mother believe her.

Swiftly, she raced into her room, and grabbed what she could find; a packet of masking tape and her fear. As she sprinted rapidly back down the road, beads of sweat trickled down her pale face. Hurry up, hurry up, there is no time to loose! She had a firm grip of her fear but nothing else. She was drowning in the pool of her thoughts. Without looking where she was going, she tumbled over a slippery stone, and struggling to grip on, she felt her fingers slipping. Was this a sign that she was losing grip of her fear? Oh no she wouldn’t let go! Hard rocks were hitting her but she had to stand firm on a strong foundation. With all her might, she hauled herself onto the cold but solid ground. She had made it! Wait. Hold on. What’s happening? Could this be the end? Who stole the mask of horror? Was it her? Closing her eyes, she expected the worst. Only a miracle could save her from the creature  emerging from within the monsters mouth... she woke up screaming. Phew! it was just a dream. Or was it…?
