2/9/15 Priory School story 7 Gillian Cross http://www.gillian-cross.co.uk

It snowed in the night.  By the time I woke up, the snow was so deep that it came halfway up the windows, filling the house with a strange, eerie light.  The fields around were white and smooth, all the way to the dark woods beyond, and the road was completely hidden.  We were snowed in.

‘Fantastic!’ said my brother.  ‘Let’s dig our way out and make an igloo!’

He was already opening the door when I grabbed his arm.  ‘Wait!’ I said.  ‘Look!’

I pointed out of the window.  Across the surface of the snow was a line of footprints.  Huge, deep footprints, like nothing I’d ever seen before.  What kind of creature had made them?

And where was it now?

We had no idea where the creature went! We were scared and we didn’t know what to do? We ran to our wardrobe that contained two shovels, we grabbed them and ran to our front door.  We opened the door slowly that made a sudden creak and started to dig. After we had dug up the snow we followed the footsteps it led into a dark dingy woods.  We saw a container under the leaves that seemed to have been there for a while, we picked it up to see what was inside of it there were pictures of us when we went on holiday.  Suddenly a rock fell in front of our feet, we started to hear noises in the distance we looked up to see what it was and to our astonishment we saw a black figure standing there we ran as fast as a cheetah.  We managed to reach home safely  and lock the door behind us we terrified, we ran to the windows and all the other doors and locked them, we ran to the bedroom and hid under the covers, we heard nothing ever since the day we ran.

A couple of days later we heard on the news that a mysterious creature has been sighted on the tropical Island of Sicily. It has, destroyed half of the lands and villages also, the farms. That’s when we realised terror was among us!!! The news reporters said that it had huge blue eyes that shimmered like the sea, matted white fur, feet as humongous as a house and hands big enough to crush my bones!

The Present Day….

It’s body makes a colossus, historic shadow over me. We ran as fast as our bodies could carry us but there was no escape, we were trapped!? We turned a sharp right and there it was…..

Looking at us directly in the eye, its bright red bloodshot eyes were blinding us. What could we do? This is, it this is the end I thought to myself where could we go! Then all of a sudden my little brother said to me “no, sister, this is not the end we can fight this beast. Trust me there is a way out of this please,” he begged me, “just trust me!”

“Ok,” I said, “I’ll trust you but you better come up with a plan. And fast other, wise were not coming out alive and trust me I really don’t want to die not at this age anyway.”

“Oh I’ve got it,” said my little brother, “we need to split up both run different ways…”

All that we could do was stand and stare, our bodies frozen in fear. At this point running was no option. The blue eyed monster, swept us away, we were engulfed by a cloak of darkness.
Light appeared. Questions roaming through our mind like a lost train in a never ending tunnel. Footsteps echoed. We found ourselves trapped inside a dingy cellar there was no escape.
