Hi everyone hope you are all well? sorry it's been a while since I've been in touch life is mad as I am sure it is at your schools also. This Wednesday a journalist and photographer from the Independent newspaper are coming to school to interview a couple of WP participants and myself about the project for an article linked to the latest report released by the National Literacy Trust which will be published in the education supplement - on 3rd or 4th December I think. I'm a little nervous about it but luckily am seldom lost for words as you all know ;0) . I took the trophy in for engraving last week and ordered the medals for Elizabeth College so they will soon be on their way to them. Just waiting for the last story to come back from Guernsey, unfortunately poor Kate has been very unwell with flu so there has been a delay. The book will be published as soon as possible and I will let you know when it's ready of course.
Now anyone that knows me is aware of the fact that I am a real Christmas enthusiast .....to say the least and as we are only in school for a few weeks of December I have started our celebrations early. We are showing a Christmas DVD two evenings a week, I have special prizes for quizzing on festive books (candy canes!) and we are running a poetry competition - here's where you come in. The competition is to write a poem on the theme 'What Christmas means to me' and I thought it would be fun to open it up to the WP schools. There will be a prize for our students and another one for the winner from outside the school, if any of you would be interested? Perhaps a maximum of 5 entries per school might be wise. Also we are filming our students reading a Christmas story with a little bit about a British Christmas custom - I'll upload our first video in a minute and those of you that loved Joe's zombie sheep into sharks story continuation are in for a treat! If you feel like doing the same with some of your students it would be great to see the videos!
Have a good week all!!
