School Library Association weekend course

I was away all weekend at the SLA course which was tremendous fun and hopefully has gained us some more authors!! I was very proud that Melvin Burgess and Anna Perera said yes and several others took letters and hopefully will be in touch. Joe Craig has also agreed to write for us so there should be some excellent stories going around the world. Whilst at the course I saw a comic presentation and whilst watching had an idea - what about having one comic going around at the same time?! Those of you that know me will not be surprised to learn that I went up to speak to the two comic supremos that were there straight away and asked them if they would do one page of a comic for us and luckily both said yes!! We may also have one audio story ..........want to be totally inclusive but need to think this one through more - was only suggested today!

Wonderful idea Bev! We have a partially sighted boy and he'd probably quite like to take part. He thinks the library is boring... let's change his opinion!!

The comic idea is great - could really encourage the weak readers but great artists - but how are we going to do this online? Are you envisaging them using a software package or scanning in their own drawings?

Hi Liz yes would set a template and then the finished page would need to be scanned in - needs more thought I think but thats why have started preparations early this year!

Have you thought of a story in rhyme Bev, something like the Highwayman, or maybe that is going down the poetry road instead of storywriting?
