Hi everyone hope you all had a fantastic World Book Day (it was last Thursday in the UK). I thought I'd share my day with you ;0) . At about 12 I caught a plane to Guernsey and was collected by a very nice man in a taxi and rushed over to Elizabeth College, our Write Path winners from last year. Two extremely polite young men escorted me to reception and carried my bag then I made my way up to the library. The wonderful Kate Garnett, their librarian had arranged a book launch for the WP books and I was to be the guest of honour. The room was buzzing when I arrived with students autographing books and parents and teachers buying them. I was really touched to be given a round of applause by the boys and tried to answer their question about how I got the idea as best I could! The bowls of jelly babies and chocolate cake were much appreciated by all and the adults enjoyed the tea and coffee. The WP participants had been very excited about all this signing and had indeed signed anything that didn't move - the tablecloths, books, a wall display........it was great to see first hand how much they enjoyed being published authors.

A wonderful event and I'd like to thank Kate for inviting me to attend. In the afternoon I conducted an inset session with the English and MFL departments on using new technologies which seemed to go down well so a very sucessful day all in all. Guernsey is so beautiful and I relished the chance to visit and take photos.

What a fantastic idea to promote the book. Well done to Kate Garnett. It has spurred me on to 'go big' on promoting our copy and as I am such a fan of 'sharing good practice' I am now full of ideas to do somehting similar. LOL
For WBD we transformed the LRC into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and had fun making chocolate and chocolate boxes and experimenting with chocolate and finally a game based on Roald Dahl books.

It was a great day and fantastic to be able to invite Bev, (as without her there is no Write Path). The INSET session she ran for our MFL and English Dept was also fantastic and I have no hesitation in recommending her for similar sessions in your schools. Thanks for your comment Anita - it was really fun doing the launch, the publisher Little Book People, http://www.thelittlebooks.co.uk/ were also really helpful and got books to me within two days, amazing considering we are a little island!!!! What is there not to love with books, great students, Bev, chocolate and jelly babies?!!!
