Are you thinking what I’m thinking?’ Jake asked with a sly smile on his face.
‘Too true!’ Julie frowned. ‘I always know what’s going on in your head!’
The twins stopped outside the boarded-up old house. The rusted iron gate was slightly open…almost beckoning the two eleven-year-olds to enter in.
‘Do you think they’re true…the rumours and the spooky stories?’
Julie looked even more serious than before. ‘I’m not sure about vampires and stuff like that. I think that’s just kids making things up; but the idea that someone weird might be living in there…well you never know.’
An icy chill ran down both children’s spines.
‘Well? Shall we take a look?’ Jake asked in a challenging way.
Julie hesitated…her sensible side arguing with her adventurous side. ‘Strictly out of bounds!’ her mother had said. But then again…just a little look… ‘Well…I suppose we could at least sneak up the path as far as the door…’

When they approached the door they then wiped the cob webs off the door handle. To their surprise it was unlocked! They wondered very inquisitively why it had been so abandoned underneath all that rust. There was something beautiful. They wandered around some more and then found themselves on the old wooden stairs.

“Jake stop”! She whispered, “mum obviously had a reason why she didn’t want us here, let’s go before something happens”. “No!” Jake replied “we are here now we might as well look around, ok I promise as soon as we go up stairs and look around we can go”.

With a sigh of regret Julie agreed. When they went up stairs Jake went into the master bedroom and Julie found herself in a nursery she stared admiring some collectable dolls, when all of a sudden she heard a bang “Jake was that you, tell me you didn’t brake something , Jake , Jake this isn’t funny any more”.

As she came out of the nursery she rushed to the master bedroom and was rushed of her feet by two teenage boys. “Jake what’s going on”.

When she entered the room she saw Jake on the floor surrounded in a pool of blood …

"Jake! Speak to me, Jake!?" Julie screamed, the echo bouncing off all the walls. She felt inside her pocket, yes, her phone was still there, but were the two boys still there, lurking in the darkness? She had no choice, but to ring the 3 dreaded numbers.

They came in only 5 minuites, though it seemed like 5 hours, waiting patiently in the darkness, surrounded by a pool of blood and Jake's pale ghoustly face, his eyes staring straight at her. As soon as she heard the roaring sirens, and the distant calling downstairs, she dailed her mother's number, her fingers trembling in fear. What would her mother look like when she knew the truth?

Her mother came rushing as soon as Jake was in the ambulance being checked over.
"Julie! Julie, what happened?! I'd strictly forbidden you to enter even the front gate! Why didn't you listen to me?! You have killed your own brother! You murderer!" The words repeated in her mind. Why did she say that? I had no choice, he ordered me to come in, she thought, angry at her mother for even suggesting it was her fault.
"I'm going to see my poor brother."Julie wept, however as soon as she tried to enter the ambulance, the Doctor stood straight in front of her with a woeful sigh.
"I'm sorry, we tried our best, however the cut was severe, he didn't have a chance of survival."

When they got home, Julie ran straight to her room, where she wept for hours on end. Her mother was distraught, sitting at the kitchen table with her head in her hands. At ten past nine the phone let out a loud shrill ring; at first her mother did not respond and then, as if she was hearing it for the first time, she sprang to her feet and spoke into the receiver….

"Who is it?"she sobbed, her eyes puffed and red.
"I am your worst nightmare"the man on the phone laughed,"and taken my revenge, I have." Suddenly her eyes opened as wide as the ever-expanding universe and her face drained of colour. The phone crumpled in her ghostly white hand as she shook with anger. The Dark Shadow was back.

Julie was lying in her room when she heard an almighty crash. She peered out of the window and saw the most amazing sight. Her mum, now glowing with dazzling runes, charged down the road, roaring - like a possessed beast - at any thing that stood in her way. Littering the road were hundreds of dead bleeding corpses. She was heading for the house.

Then there came an enormous explosion and millions of little black demons burst out of the bodies and rushed towards Julie's mum. It was clear that she would not outrun them. A battle was imminent...

She said "Hello!?" "This is King George hospital, we have some good news
and some horrific news. Your son "Jacob Louis Scott" has a slight pulse.
The unfortunate news that Jacob is in a coma, which he might not wake up from.
He also has unusual habits of talking and screaming in his sleep. We are very
worried about it. We will keep in touch, you may visit. Suddenly the phone
cut off. "Hello ? Doctor ? DOCTOR ! DOCTOR WHERES MY SON! " She sprinted as fast as
lightning into the car, She slammed down the accellerator with power, she arrived
at the childrens ward and grabbed the receptionist by the collar and shouted " WHERE IS
MY SON! WHERE IS HE HIS NAME IS JACOB LOUIS SCOTT!" The receptionist quickly and sharply
searched through folders. she said "room 3 " The mother ran to room 3 and barged the door
open, and there laid scrambled sheets , but no jake. She turns around and saw something
so unreal for words.

It was a vampire. She screamed a deafening screech. She fell to the floor with fright. She felt a tingle of fright go down her spine, but then everything twirled away. “It was me, I bit Jacob. I was the one who made everything go wrong. I was the one who made their minds temp them into going into the house. It was all me” the vampire said to Julies mum.” And this is the worst dream you will ever have.” Julies mum tried to get to her feet but couldn’t .She just fell down and once again went into darkness.
“Mum? Mum!?” it was Julie. Julies mum found herself lying in a bed in the hospital. She sighed a sigh of relief. “I’m safe?” Julies mum asked. “Of course you are why, wouldn’t you be?” Julie replied wondering what her mum was talking about. “Oh nothing” she said slightly dazzled.
But then lurching from the door was the vampire holding Jake. He laughed a dreaded, evil laugh as he pounced away taking Jake with him. “Jake!” screamed Julies mum as she sat up in disbelief.
She got up and ran but the vampire was already putting his fangs to Jakes neck…

Billy ran for his life and luckily he was the fastest runner in his class. As he ran out of the entrance he noticed a hole in the hedge that ran alongside the wall. He quickly dived in before Dave could notice. Dave ran past the hedge with the dagger raised above his head. When Dave was about 20ft away from Billy he jumped out of the hedge. As he ran he snapped a twig. Dave suddenly turned round and noticed Billy running the opposite direction. He started to sprint towards Billy. Then they were running into the forest. As Billy ran he did not notice a tree in front of him as he was concentrating on seeing where Dave was. He hit the tree and fell on his back. He saw Dave crouch over him, dagger held in front of his chin and…

In a burst of adrenaline, Julie lurched forward, breaking into a run. Reaching out to Jake’s limp body, anger urged her onwards. Turning round to face Julie, the vampire’s vividly red eyes bore into her. Not caring about the danger, she sprang at the pale skinned vampire…

The vampire looked at Julie with a grin on his face. Just as the vampire was sinking his teeth into her neck, Mum heard a squeaky noise. Then, the noise became louder and louder until she could hear it clearly. Mum had heard this voice before. It was Jake! He was saying Mum, Mum, wake up Mum. She finally woke up and was so glad because it had all been just a dream.
