Cameron was playing on his computer when the letterbox rattled.  Mum and Dad had taken Kelly out to buy new school shoes.  He was in the house alone.

“Funny,” he said to himself.  “There isn’t usually any post on a Sunday.”

Setting his laptop aside, he padded downstairs in his socks to retrieve the lone, brown envelope on the mat.  There was no name on it, no address - in fact, nothing at all to identify who the letter was for, or where it had come from.

He ripped open the flap, and found a single CD inside.  On the disc, scrawled in black marker pen, were the words: 'Play me to learn the truth!’

Taking a deep breath, Cameron headed back upstairs…

Then he put the disc in the computer after a few seconds the computer froze and crashed. Cameron reached to pull the power cord and restart it but it didnt turn off! The blank static screen stared back at him.

Camerons mind was blown, the power cable in his hand the machine still on.

He wondered what was going on. Cameron pushed the start button and it flashed on and off but nothing happened. Then he kicked the computer as hard as he could then he turned around.

Behind him in the door way was a strange figure, with red glowing eyes that flashed the same as the start button, a wavy flowing cape around them.

The figure walked slowly towards Cameron

...Desperately, Cameron turned back to the computer, hoping for something or someone to help him. What he saw was even more terrifying than the faceless figure in his doorway- it was a face. The face was red, red with human blood. The face then seemed to have a neck, followed by shoulders, followed by a chest- the face was moving towards him, out of the computer screen. Turning around back to the doorway, the faceless figure was gone. It had become the figure emerging from the computer. He backed slowly towards the door, still hoping someone would save him...

The figure had one last look at him and then slowly reached out of the computer. Its bony, ivory-white hand with jagged knife-like nails grasped at his shirt. He tried to break away, but the firm, unyielding grip dragged him towards the screen and into the virtual abyss, everything around him was black. His heart pounded like a drum as he scanned his surroundings, he was on an onyx plain. He had entered the digital world....

He could hear high pitched pinging noises and strange bleeps coming at him from all directions and tiny dots of light rushing past him , some at high speed some not so fast. He reached out a hand towards the dots only to pull it back quickly, feeling pain like bee stings where the dots had touched his skin. The figure still had hold of his shirt and it was pulling him along, without Cameron's feet needing to touch the ground.....but then again there was no ground, just a black void yawning below him. "Wait - who are you and where are you taking me?" Cam shouted , the figure turned its head back towards him and a hole appeared where the mouth should be - it was trying to talk but the noise that came out just sounded like the static sounds that come from an old radio when you are between stations. It was icily cold here and Cameron could feel goosebumps on every part of his body....

The landscape changed. The ground below him morphed from black emptiness to snow covered soil. The landscape went from blank space to pines covered in frost. The sound of distant howls filled the bitter air. The figure’s grip was looser now, but still pulling him along. “Where are you taking me?” Cameron tried shouting again, however, the figure ignored him. He felt himself being tugged up hill. The powdered snow fell onto his face, freezing his face and sending chills down his spine as he slowly made his way up the mountain. He glanced up; he had a long way to go.

Cameron woke up, alone, under the only pine tree. He could see far over the treetops, nothing but green and white for miles. But then, he saw…

A small girl, that looked like a wooden doll , was just staring straight at him with enlarging pitch, black eyes just sat down underneath a small tree holding a rag doll which unusually looked exactly like her. She had brown, messy hair tied up in a little pink ribbon with white polka-dots. A ripped ,yet sewn with patches ,dress with small flowers scattered all over it with matt brown ,leather ,buckled shoes with a black satchel hanging on a thin branch ,covered in thick snow over her. Cameron tried to communicate with her but she wasn’t responding. All she did was lip sync words that seemed familiar to him. He remembered those words from his childhood, a rhyme that his mother used to sing to him about a doll with brown, messy hair tied up in a little pink ribbon with white polka-dots. He couldn’t focus, all he saw was her. He couldn’t think of anything except her. Then suddenly she got up and started to walk towards him and then...

“Help me!” her innocent voice whispers, her tiny hand reaches out towards him. A single tear runs down his face as the young girl reminds him of his late sister. He wipes away the warm tear with the back of his hand and sees a dark crimson covering his wrist. Suddenly the shadow of fear creeps towards the young girl. Cameron swallows a gasp of pure despair, the hooded figure raised a withered finger toward his pale lips with a malicious intent, with his only facial feature he has he lets out a cackle. Her innocent voice becomes an echoing shriek as the shadow seizes the roots of her long chestnut hair. The lurking creature pulled out a knife and sent Cameron a devious grin as he dragged the knife  along her beautiful  pale neck the delicate rip of young skin  fills the cyber world , her blood slowly dripping down her lifeless body . the shadow leans towards her neck and glides his snake like tongue along the blood trail.” Cameron…..” she breaths with her last gasp of air. The creature parroted back his name “ Cameron.” He floated towards Cameron, his hands outstretched, his face twisted on a smile “ Cameron….” He whispered again in a childlike voice “let’s play a game.”

I sprinted away from the horrifying creature. It didn't matter where I was going, as long as I was separated from the murdering monster I would be fine. As fast as the speed of sound, a digital and pixelated tree formed and I rammed into it.

I woke up, and became so happy that it was just a dream. I walked down the stairs and noticed a painting of the frightening, charcoal black figure in my dream. I ran to my parents, asking them why we had a picture of that thing. My mom and I walked towards the place of the painting.

She had a confused look on her face and so did I. It wasn't a picture, it was a window!

Then, all at once a piercing wail filled the air; causing Cameron and his mother to cover their ears, attempting to block out the screech. Mirrors cracked and so did the window that held the dark figure. Shattered pieces of glass each containing a part of the figure stuck themselves into Cameron’s skin, drawing blood and causing a searing pain wherever they touched. The world started to fade to blackness and all he could hear was the screeching wail of the black monster…
