Ayesha was on my case.

“Miss Jackson! Chelsea forgot the second wave AGAIN!”

She looked evil when she said it – eyes narrowed and all.  She stared right at me - drawing her finger slowly across her throat.

Ayesha was glad I’d screwed the whole routine. Let myself down, let the group down, let the school down ya-dah-ya-dah-ya-dah.

Miss Jackson wasn’t biting though, “And that’s exactly why we’re practising Ayesha,” she smiled, “that’s why we’re having this whole ‘dress rehearsal’ thing going on for tonight’s semi-finals when by rights you should all be in the classroom learning your Shakespeare.  So you’re down in the gym popping, locking, and – yeah – waving as well.  You’ll get it next time –won’t you Chelsea?”

“I will get it,” I said.  I prayed.

I was the weakest link.  I knew I’d made the final cut for the crew by the skin of my teeth.  Ayesha knew it too and she hated me.    Her bestie Camille got to sit on the reserve bench because of me.

“Back in position ladies!” said Miss Jackson.

Ayesha brushed by me.  She was so close I could smell her; body spray and bubble gum.

“You think you’re even going to make it to the semi’s tonight Chelsea?” she whispered under her breath, “My girl Camille is waiting in the wings, and we are sooo onto you.....”

Petrifying.  I felt as though I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. Pressure.

As I headed back to class, I brushed pass the cutest guy in Alewood High, Alex. His blonde tousled hair, toned muscles and blue dreamy eyes shimmered in the glint of the sun. My heart was pounding as he smiled at me; the problems in my life faded into the past.  Just imagine if I had a chance with him. Wow I would be so popular, Ayesha would be wallowing in a hole – I thought with a grin. Desperately I waved at him. Then I suddenly realized, why was he even looking at me? It might destroy his reputation.  Do I have anything in my teeth? Is my hair okay?

“Chelsea? Chelsea? CHELSEA!” Laura’s voice snapped me back to reality, I noticed that I had been walking towards the direction that Alex had disappeared to, “Are you dead?”

“Alex, Alex, Aleee…” I whined.

“Chelsea, were you imagining Alex again? Do you realise how little chance you have with a guy like that? Plus, he already has a girlfriend.”

“Yeah… life is just that unfair.”

“It’s alright gal, ya got me forever and ever.” She flashed me a wink as I gave the evil glare. “Anyway gal we’re late for class and I already have a detention with Mr Crane.” I nodded and we headed for another never ending science lecture.

Whilst we entered, we were greeted by a thousand stares despite being nobodies. “Late!” the demon master shrieked with furiousity.  I looked down and caught Ayesha’s  eye, looking right at ME. Please don’t look, please don’t look I begged silently. “DETENTION” Mr Crane screeched and Ayesha giggled.

After my dull and dreary detention, with hunchbacked disfigured nosed teacher Mr Crane, I was finally set free to plot my revenge on Ayesha. This isn’t going to be easy, but if my name is Chelsea Adaya Florendia Amber Jade Ann Mae Hex, I can do it!

I met up with my friends Sophia, Evie, Rebecca and Bethany to start my evil blueprints. Rebecca suggested that I put socks in her underwear draw but that wasn’t good enough. Bethany suggested I put stones in her school shoes during P.E, which was better but still not good enough. Then suddenly Sophia’s eyes lit up with eagerness, she said that they could start off by sending rumours about her around the school, then go on to throwing chewing gum in her hair and then for the big finale we will need to take a trip into the woods, Sophia and Evie looked at each other smugly.

The next day at school we managed to complete our first two plans successfully and we were now ready for our little adventure in the woods.

Phase 1

Bethany slipped her hand into Alex’s bag during maths.  In break we texted Ayesha and her crony, Melissa. Hey babez wuu2?? Wanna meet me at the woods at 9? Xx.  Almost instantly Ayesha replied with yeah sure babez xx.

The stage was set; it was time for Phase 2. We crept out of rooms and met up at the woods.  It was pitch black, and the moon light shone on the path as Ayesha and Melissa walked up to our hiding place. We got ready; Sophia was ready with her camera. Ayesha’s face was covered with makeup and wearing shorts with ridiculously high leopard print heels. We barely contained our laughter. “1, 2, 3” Chelsea whispered “now!” We jumped from behind our hiding place and shouted “BOO!”

“Ahh!” Melissa screeched while Ayesha fell over an old tree root, she screamed in pain.  Sophia took a few snaps. Then we realised that this was going horribly wrong…

Melissa shouted “You are so dead! “ She whipped her iPhone out of her pocket.

A few minutes later we heard the sirens.

I glanced up from Ayesha as the sirens got closer. With a squeal of car brakes, I could see, through the trees, an ambulance and a police car. My friends and I turned to run, away from the pulsing blue light of the two vehicles.

I sprinted away, and gradually Ayesha’s whimpers and the shriek of the sirens faded. Suddenly I heard the heavy thumps of one of the police giving chase, each footfall in time with my frantic heart beats. I glanced to my left. A glistening blue-grey lake sparkled in the moonlight, shrouded by the trees. I ran on, oblivious to the tree roots jutting out of the ground.

I stumbled over one, staggering to try to regain my balance. Too close to the lake. I lurched forwards. My head broke the surface first, my hands following in a futile attempt to break the fall. I flustered in the water as I plunged deeper. The water trapped me, enveloping me in its cold, slimy embrace. A shiver ran down my spine, as my body temperature plummeted. I hope my friends got away, even if I don’t. More importantly, I hope Ayesha’s okay. I might hate her, but not that much.

Please find me, I prayed silently of the police man. Please, find me.

“What’s your name Miss?”

“My full name,” I asked.

“Yes, please.”

“Chelsea Adaya Florendia Amber Jade Ann Mae Hex.”

“Okay…” he paused, pen held over the notepad, a look of confusion momentarily flicking on his face. “I’m going to put you down as Chelsea Hex. Is that alright?”

I nodded.

“What exactly happened?” The officer asked.

I took a deep breath, knowing it would be easier if I didn’t pause.

“Me and my friend Sophia came out here to play a prank on Ayesha. We wanted to scare them and take snaps of their faces afterwards. We’d have a good laugh over it later, we thought. When we jumped out, Ayesha fell over a tree root, and Melissa started yelling at us. She took out her iPhone, and well, you know the rest.”

“So, all you wanted to do was play a prank and it went wrong?” he asked.

“Yes, we didn’t mean to hurt her.”

“Right, thank you for telling us this, Chelsea, I’m going to be honest, it’s not looking good. Best case scenario, she’s twisted her ankle. But it’s more than likely she broke it. If you think of anything else that happened, come to the Police Station, if you need to speak to me, ask for Jack. Ok?”

I nodded, but I wasn’t focusing on the policeman. I was just thinking about what my parents would say when I got home.

When she arrived home, the police were there waiting on her. They were questioning her parents and Chelsea interuppted. "I didn't do it." Her parents sent her to her room and she was told she couldn't see her friends for the rest of the week.

As the days passed, she missed her friends. She felt lonely and sorry for twisting Jack's ankle. She vowed to never play pranks again. Well, at least for this week.

After one dreadful week of being grounded (which means no internet). I returned freely to the crowded hallways of Alewood High School. Smirking, I knew that I had to return to the game. Feeling revengeful, my only choice was to turn to the troublemakers of the school, Qadira, Caroline and Serena.

As I approached the demons of the school I could feel my cheeks go red as Alex walked pass with his hundred dollar cologne.

“Hi,” said Alex with his manly toned voice. He then started to open his arms for a hug. I was in a trance. Then the embarrassing happened…

Alex slowly nudged me aside, making way to hug his beautiful girlfriend, Florence.  I was devastated and depressed. I then slowly walked, with a hole in my heart, to the troublemakers who were giving a poor skinny boy a wedgie.

“Umm, hi!” I stuttered nervously, I certainly didn’t want to be beaten up.

Then Qadira suddenly turned around, “What?”

“Well, I was hoping you would do me a favour?” I said while the other 2 girls laughed, from behind Qadira…

“This better be good, you’re wasting our time,” smirked Caroline.

“Yeah, punk! Make it fast!” shouted Serena.

“Well,” I said softly.

“But first…” said all three interrupting and grinning cunningly…
