A hard day's night

Everybody was excited about the trip to Spain. We hadn't seen my older sister Beth for a month. She was working on the Costa Del Sol for the summer before starting university. The mystery started the moment we arrived at Malaga Airport. Beth wasn't there to meet us. Worse still, when we got to the apartment block where she lived, the caretaker said he hadn't seen her for two days. Suddenly, Mum and Dad were worried. We stood in the street, wondering what had happened to Beth. That's when there was a loud explosion and two masked men ran from the bank next door to the block and jumped on a motorbike. One stuffed a bag into the top box. As the motorbike roared away a photo fluttered from the pocket of one of the men. I picked it up and gasped. The girl in the photo was Beth!

I handed the photo to mum. She was shocked “what does this mean, how could this happen?” Mum sobbed while staring at the photo. I knew I had to do something but what? We all paced around not knowing what to do. Mum suggested calling the police. Dad mentioned we should call the FBI. While we were trying to find a way to look for Beth, a flyer flicked down the street and landed on my feet. I picked up the crumpled paper in hope. It was an advertisement for a secret agent. We instantly called the number on the flyer and he arrived there in a flash. His name was 009… Agent 009. He was wearing a large black overcoat, a black fedora, dark shades and a mysterious look on his face. As he mumbled “How can I be at your service” he shoved a piece of paper in mum’s hand, reading in big black bold writing, my fee. He added I charge by the hour, leaving me outraged.

I could not believe the price! £200 for an hour! "I don't think we should do it". My mum interrupted me "Yes, yes anything to save Beth". "Ok we'd better get on with this mystery" said 009. We walked through the dark, gloomy streets. "Wait, tire tracks and a picture". "Look, it's Beth in the aeroplane." "Look it's Beth's mobile and the motorbikes....."

Slowly we crept towards the beeping phone, following the tyre tracks of the motorbikes. We were surrounded by rundown buildings and steamy pipes on either side. We glanced at the vibrating screen, dreading what we would see next. There was a message that read: “242 Loranto Lane, 5:00.” we stood frozen in shock, searching for an answer.

Then it hit me.

“They’ve taken Beth to 242 Loranto Lane, the abandoned warehouse -  I passed it earlier today!” I exclaimed. I felt a dramatic change of heart and a sense of hope for finding Beth. I looked at my watch: “We have 10 minutes to get there!” We raced through dark alley ways until we reached the abandoned warehouse on Loranto Lane.  We were flooded with relief. We approached the torn down building with anticipation. It was 4:58 - two minutes to find Beth - but as we took our first step through the door we encountered a tall, mysterious silhouette cast on the wall. In his hand dangled a long silver chain that I recognized- it was the chain that I gave to Beth as a present. In the other hand he had a cigar with a cloud of smoke drifting around it.

"Please, where did you hide Beth? Where's my sister?" I exclaimed. "You just be a good little girl and scram." He growled. "WHERE IS SHE? TELL ME!!" I screamed. He grabbed me by the neck and burned me with his cigar. "Why are you doing this?" I sobbed. "I said, SCRAM!" He growled, feircely. So I ran...But not in the direction he wanted me to. I ran straight into the old warehouse. I heard him shouting after me, "STOP! You'll ruin EVERYTHING!"

I was shocked with what I saw. Cameras, lighting equipment, even a green screen... I then heard a director shout, "Cut!" That's when I saw Beth. "Beth! What's going on? What are you doing here?" I yelled. "Didn't you know? I thought I called. I'm an actress in this new movie- 'A Hard Day's Night.' You actually came just in time- we need extras!" she replied, excited. "Really? How cool!" I shouted with joy.

We all had a blast making the movie, and earned some big bucks, too.
