This year, 2011, Bev organised that the last day of WritePath would be adults day, when we had the chance to write our own continuations to stories.  I really wanted to see what the experience was like for the students, and so I volunteered.  The only catch was, we had to write all six story continuations in an hour, which was a big ask!  In the end, I only managed 5 out of 6 - in between student interruptions - but I was pleased with that and relieved to see that I wasn't the only one.  However, I just loved the experience of creative writing.  I realised that I hadn't written anything creative since I had left school, and I absolutely loved it!  I had written essays for my degree, and a dissertation for my Masters, and reports in school on all sorts of stuff - but none of that was creative writing.  My ideas whizzed through my brain, and I just couldn't type fast enough to get it all down.  Now, I know that what I wrote wasn't exactly rocket science, or publishable, but it showed me a side of me that I haven't used for such a long time.  After all, I love reading, and my degree is in English - but I just haven't written.  This has spurred me on, and now I am going to join in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which takes place in November, and see what goes from there.  Thank you so much Bev for this - fantastic idea!

Thoroughly enjoyed it myself!  I am really happy with what I have written, I douns trying to match the theme and mood of previous writers the hardest, not imposing my stupid humour on everything!  And I only seem quick because I copied and pasted each story into a word document, and read them through, prior to my assigned hour, then waited until my hour to check for any additions (good job I did, as there was an addition to each!) then wrote each one at a time, uploading as one finished.

I will SO do this again next year if I get the chance.  That's me, over and out! XXX
